9-11 Observance |
On September
11, 2002 fire departments from around Kent County joined us in an
observance. We were very happy to get participation from each of the
ambulance transport agencies and the Kent County Sheriff and Michigan
State Police. Plainfield hosted the observance but everyone who attended
contributed.
The bag pipers wait for the program to start.

Wyoming Fire sent their honor guard, shown here flanking Captain (now
Assistant Chief) McKellar; preparing to lower the flag to half-staff.

The Firefighters lead the way, Law Enforcement and EMS are just out of
view.

Dave Groenleer, Supervisor of Plainfield Township, Lawrence Gerou,
Customer Service Specialist PFD, Chief Peterson, PFD, Pastor Kurt Kigar
of Belmont Baptist Church and Chief Steve Johnson, Algoma Fire
Department (L – R).

Several hundred people enjoyed the program including several classes from
local schools. After the programs conclusion everyone adjourned to the
fire station for cake and punch. |
