Camp 9-1-1  2008

Each year, the Plainfield Fire department holds their "Camp 9-1-1" for township residents.  This program is designed to educate children in the fundamentals of Fire Safety, and have a lot of fun and competition too.

This year, campers got a chance to practice a rescue procedure called "follow the hose".  When a firefighter enters a structure to look for victims they will often take a hose with them.  This way, they can always follow the hose back to safety.

Campers also were trained in the proper use of a Fire Extinguisher, and what to do if they are trapped in a bedroom by a fire.

Of course, they also got to brush up on their skills with the ever popular Fire Hoses!

As you can see, the children, and the instructors, had a fun and informative day.
