Fire at Franklin Mills Apartments

On March 20, 2008, a pan left unattended on a stove erupted in flames that eventually destroyed 3 units of the Franklin Mills Apartments in Plainfield Township, and left 9 other units uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.

Firefighters and equipment from both Station #1 and Station #3 responded to the alarm, and were assisted by fire crews from the City of Grand Rapids.  Fortunately, none of the residents were injured in the blaze. One PFD firefighter suffered an injury to his Achilles Tendon and was treated at a local hospital.
